Meditations in Color
The pieces in this section are all hand embroidered. I use a scale of 1/4” squares and alternate the direction of the stitching. All of the threads are silks that I have painted in a range of colors within the skein to achieve the final effects I want. Each piece evolves as I stitch, not planned ahead.

Hand Made Paper and Embroidery
Hand made paper was used as a background for the embroidery on top. Cotton rag pulp was sculpted over frames, found objects and dishes. The next step was to airbrush the surface with pigments, then paint, draw and embellish the surface. The last step was to add and attach the hand embroideries to the surface. Pieces were then framed in shadow boxes. The embroideries used hand dyed silk threads of various sizes and twists.
